Roost Heating Supports Solent Mind with Mayfield Café Transformation
At Roost Heating, we believe in giving back to our local community, so to mark Mental Health Awareness Week 2026, our team swapped boilers and heat pumps for hard hats and joined forces with CC Carpentry to support Solent Mind at Mayfield Garden Centre in Southampton.
The project focused on transforming the café serving area to create a more accessible, welcoming and practical space for the customers, volunteers and staff who use it every day.
A big project in just one day
There was plenty to do, including:
- Installing a new steel lintel to open up the café serving hatch
- Creating a larger, more accessible serving area
- Installing a new low-level drinks display fridge
- Building and finishing a new serving counter
- Carrying out general repairs and refurbishment works
- Helping with additional jobs around the site, including painting and tidying the grounds
It was an ambitious project to complete in a single day, but thanks to the hard work of everyone involved, we were delighted with what was achieved.
Thank you for your support
Alongside donating our time, labour and expertise free of charge, we also launched a fundraiser to help cover the cost of materials. We originally set ourselves a target of £1,200. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our customers, suppliers, friends and local community, we exceeded that goal and raised an amazing £1,365.
Every penny raised will go directly towards the Mayfield Café project, helping create a better space for the people who rely on it.
