Tareq's Tips #1
Going on Holiday? Don't forget to switch off your water at the mains.
If you’re jetting off on holiday to somewhere sunny (or just popping to a campsite up the road) but you don’t want to come home to a nasty, soggy surprise – it’s advisable to turn your mains water off to the house before you head out of the door.
Burst pipes, slow leaks or flooding can be stressful and expensive, particularly if they’re left for any length of time so it makes sense to prevent them happening by switching off your mains water before you go away.
It may however be the case that for you, this is easier said than done. Traditional brass stopcock water taps are often tucked away in the most inaccessible places. Difficult to locate and often hard to turn so sometimes it’s not possible to access them or adjust them, or it just seems to be an extra hassle that you don’t have time for as you dash out of the door.
At Roost Heating, if your stopcock is stiff or inaccessible, we recommend fitting a modern and convenient new Stopcock which means it’ll be simple for you to switch your water on and off ongoing. Whether you’re going away but you still need the neighbours to do the watering or you suddenly have a leaky pipe or burst pipe and want to stop your water supply as quickly as possible, a Surestop Stopcock will enable you to switch off your water at the touch of a button.
